The mission of youth ministries within St. Matthias UMC is to lead youth to a genuine and passionate faith in Jesus Christ, to encourage them to grow as lifelong disciples, to equip them with tools to live a life reflecting their choice to serve God, and to support them in ministering to others.

In order to accomplish this, we have many opportunities for youth:

High School Sunday School: The high school class meets on Sunday mornings at 9:45am in the Youth Room. Our class is currently using the book "Essential Truth: Inviting Christ into My Reality."

Middle School Sunday School: The middle school class meets on Sunday mornings at 9:45am in the Youth Room.

BRIDGE is one year opportunity that 6th graders have to make a successful transition and "bridge" from elementary school to middle school. BRIDGE meets once a month on a Sunday evening at 6:00pm, and allows the 6th graders time to spend in fellowship and Bible study on topics relevant to where they are in life. Of course, 6th graders are welcome and encouraged to participate in all UMYF activities… come just for BRIDGE, or stay until 8:30pm and spend time with the 7th-12th graders!

St. Matthias United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF) meets on Sunday evenings from 7:00-8:30pm in the Youth Room. The focus of UMYF is Christian fellowship, service, worship and Bible study. Please check the UMYF Calendar for upcoming events. Newcomers and friends are always welcome!

Soul'd Out is a contemporary worship service created for and by youth. Meeting once a month, during UMYF, Soul'd Out provides an opportunity for praise and worship accompanied by contemporary Christian music, prayer and peer testimony.

Wednesday Evening Fun, Food, Fellowship and Learning: Several times a year we offer a six to ten week class for middle and high school youth. Beginning at 6:00pm, there is a dinner served in the Social Hall, followed by the class at 6:45pm. Our current study, "Experiencing God" by Henry Blackaby and Claude King runs through December 3.

Confirmation: A confirmation class is offered by Pastor Paula Werner in the spring for students 6th grade and older. This class offers students an opportunity to explore Methodist history and heritage, increase their understanding of the Sacraments, learn more about their spiritual gifts and explore topics such as the Trinity, the Bible, prayer, forgiveness, sin and salvation.
