Rev. Pat B. Tony
Rev. Pat B. Tony. has served churches throughout Virginia, in Emporia, Chatham, Ridgeway, Waverly, Newsoms, Chesapeake, Nottoway and Bedford County. Pastor Pat is a 1976 graduate of Longwood University with a B.S. in Elementary Education. In 1979 she also received a Master of Education from the University of Virginia. After four years of teaching elementary school, Pat discerned God’s call to the United Methodist ministry and entered seminary, graduating in 1983 with a Master of Divinity from Duke University. In 2003-2005, Pastor Pat was blessed to participate in specialized church leadership training from the Royce & Jane Reynolds Church Leadership Institute offered in cooperation with Duke University.
Pat and her husband, Dean, have one married daughter, Julie, who is an Editor in a publishing company based in New York. Dean is semi-retired from owner-managing rental properties. Over the years, the family has enjoyed hosting international students from France, Belarus, Russia, Macedonia, Thailand, Moldova, Serbia, China, Korea and Germany.
Pat and Dean enjoy walking and hiking, natural foods, tennis, skiing and other sports, a variety of music, traveling, and learning about the cuisine and customs of their international students, families and friends. The Tonys are excited about ministry opportunities in the Fredericksburg area through St. Matthias UMC and beyond. One of their favorite Bible truths is from Philippians 4:13, “I can do everything that God wants me to do through Christ, who empowers me.”
