Rev. Paula P. Werner was appointed pastor of St. Matthias UMC in June 2004 after serving five years as associate pastor of Old Bridge UMC, Woodbridge, Virginia.

A graduate of Florida State University, she earned her Master of Divinity from Wesley Seminary

Pastor Paula has lived and worked in Orlando, Florida, Columbia, Maryland, Oxford, England, and Irvine, California prior to moving to Virginia. Her work in local elected government, in press relations and service as volunteer-coordinator for nonprofit groups helped form her "gifts and graces" prior to her call into ordained ministry.

Married 39 years to Roy, they have two married adult children and 5 grandchildren.
