Those who are required to attend are ALL St. Matthias paid employees and long-term volunteers who work with the children or youth.
Long-term volunteers are : Sunday School teachers, UMYF adluts, FredCamp leaders, Children's Church leaders, Kid's Club Leaders, Boy/Girl Scout Leaders for the pack/trop we sponsor.
Parents of children or youth who attend St. Matthias are encouraged to attend but it is not mandatory.
Short-term volunteers (VBS workers, drivers for child/youth) are encouraged to attend but it not mandatory. Although, all short-term volunteers will get a copy of the policy and be required to sign the covenant prior to their participation.
The training should last about 1-1.5 hours and will be led by Mike Trant, a long-time member of our church and former educator in Stafford County.
Snacks and drinks will be provided during the training.
All children grades 2nd through 5th are invited
It is a new year and Kids' Club is ready to start! But in order to do anything we need your help!
Our planning meeting is Sept 19th, after the 11 AM service. All second, third, fouth and fifth graders are invited to bring a bag lunch and meet in the social hall, where we will vote on the activities the group will participate in though-out the year.

Wednesday, 7:00 PM, November 3th we will welcome District Superintendent Mark Ogren as he conducts our annual Charge Conference. The State of "St. Matthias" as well as the goals for the coming year will be discussed. All are encourged to attend this meeting!
- Free Christian Book Exchange. What are you reading? Do you have some good faith books that you have read and would like to pass along? Check out the bin in the missions area and trade. Take one - Leave one.
- Clean out those kitchen drawers and bring in those old cell-phones. We continuously collect old cell-phones (any era) to raise funds for missions. Place in box in the missions hallway.
- We are collecting Campbell Products Labels & Lids in support of the UMC Red Bird Mission in Beverly, Kentucky. Bin is located in the mission hallway.
- We are now collecting used eyeglasses, eyeglass cases and hearing aids. Donations will be sent to the Lion's Club for repair, cleaning and re-use. Give the gift of sight. Please donate in the box in the missions hallway area.
Children's sermons are usually around 5 minutes long and are object lessons based on the pastor's sermon or Bible readings for the day. Planning a children's sermon can take two minutes to two hours depending on your personality or style. People who are comfortable speaking in fornt of the congregation ar encourages to volunteer.

Volunteer to serve as an usher for worship! This is an important way to serve and we always welcome new volunteers. Ushers for both services are needed every Sunday.
Ushers wecome others -- especailly visitors -- hand out bulletins and collect the offering. Please sign up to usher on the bulletin board outside of the church office. We need friendly, wecoming people willing to serve throughtout the year! This is a great way for couples to serve together.

Jill Mulins is our new Director of Youth Ministries. She comes to us from the Ramoth Baptist Church. She has extensive experience in leading a youth program at the Baptist Church. She has also worked in the Prince William County Schools as a paraprofessional in the Special Needs Department. Please welcome her to our Church family.

The savings in postage, paper and toner will be considerable. A great deal of time will be saved when our secretary and her volunteers no longer have to run off, staple and fold a cou-ple of hundred newsletters each month. However, if you prefer to receive a paper newsletter, even if we have your email address, please call the office and we’ll mail your newsletter to you. Please let us know how this works for you so the Administrative Council will have a clear sense of the congregation’s feelings when it comes time to evaluate the program.

Sign up is now available outside the office for your 2010 altar flower orders. Altar flowers are $20 and will need to be prepaid before ordering. Please use envelopes provided for your payment and make the notation altar flowers on our check.
Purchasing Food Lion or Giant Cards = $$$$ for Parsonage Loan. Cards may be purchased during Sunday school hour in the Church Office.
The newspapers that placed in our RED BIN are used to earn money for our missions
We recyle printer cartridges to help fund our youth program. Donated cartridges should be placed in the Pastor's mailbox or the box in her office.
